Daniel Spencer is a scholar and performer/artist specializing in critical studies in musicology through the Individual Interdisciplinary Master’s Program at Ohio University. His research focuses on music and aesthetics, primarily in popular, electronic, and film music. As an artist and performer, he is interested in the musical dialogue between the acoustic and the digital, or organic and “inorganic” musical timbres. He plays upright/electric bass and electric guitar in a number of university/extracurricular jazz and experimental ensembles in Athens, OH. He has performed with a number of musicians and poets, including Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky. He has also been a featured artist for Nuit Blanche as part of the World Music and Dance Festival at Ohio University.
